Casa de Restauración de la Familia
Casa de Restauración de la Familia is a church in Higuey that works closely alongside Hope for Hispaniola in both short-term trips and ongoing missions. The church was born in the heart of God to restore lives, change spiritual journeys, and encourage one another in the walk of faith in Jesus Christ. Characterized by their transformational worship and outreach programs, the church serves as a touchpoint for Hope for Hispaniola as the organization plans various ministries. Additionally, Pastor Tony and his family organize many of the things on the ground for both short-term trips and ongoing ministries.
Hope for Hispaniola supports Casa de Restauración de la Familia in a variety of ways. Not only does the organization send monthly donations, but we also built their church building in 2015 and added a second floor the following year. During short-term trips, the church hosts the team for several worship services and ministry nights. Members of the congregation serve as cooks or translators for the team and they aid in various ministries during the short-term trips. Furthermore, Pastor Tony's connections with the community allows us to serve in ways that truly impact the Dominican Republic.

The Hartman Initiative
The Hartman Initiative was founded by Steve Michalik in 2020 as a way to eliminate barriers of a successful education in the nursing field locally and the medical field internationally. Currently, they partner with the Community College of Beaver County in Pennsylvania to cultivate nursing students through scholarships, mentoring, test prep, and professional development. They partner with Hope for Hispaniola on the international side, in which they support students seeking to enter the medical field financially and through mentoring. Ultimately, the Hartman Initiative seeks to transform communities by equipping future medical professionals for the challenges ahead.
The Hartman Initiative owns and operates a medical clinic inside the Hope for Hispaniola Mission Center compound. Here, locals will have access to medical care that was previously unavailable to them. Eventually, the Hartman Initiative hopes to provide quality medical care all across the Dominican Republic. Construction began on the clinic in November 2020 and the roof was just completed in June.
Additionally, Hope for Hispaniola works with the Hartman Initiative to find potential participants for their medical scholarship program. Jake works closely with the Hartman Initiative team to locate interest applicants and guide those students through the application program. The Hartman Initiative then selects from the applicants and fully supports them through medical school.
