FULL TIME MINISTRIES

We at Hope for Hispaniola believe that effective missions work requires long term commitment with  ongoing work throughout the entire year. Our short term trips only enhance our long term ministries that continuously offer hope to the people of the Dominican Republic.

Located in the Haitian village of La Higuera, The Children's Center is a school for 3 - 5 year old children. It was built by Hope for Hispaniola in 2007, and a second story was constructed in 2018. Run by Pastor Lydia, the school provides young children with a foundational education, including English and knowledge of the Bible. The school employs two teachers and a cook, and their salaries are paid by Hope for Hispaniola.

This school offers children the chance to break free of the cycle of poverty, providing them with the opportunity to pursue jobs with higher pay. Many of the translators employed for Hope for Hispaniola's short term trips attended the Children's Center, and we are truly seeing positive change stemming from this small school. By supporting the Children's Center in La Higuera, you are funding Christ-centered education, families in the community, and a bright future for young minds.

Please be sure to include "The Children's Center" in the notes section of your donation.

Since moving to the Dominican Republic in 2018, full-time missionary Jake Vincik and his family oversee many of Hope for Hispaniola's year-round ministries, including:
The Food Ministry

Started by Jake and his wife, Faye, the Vincik family cooks 15 meals twice a week for the elderly, disabled, and needy living on the streets. Additionally, they cook and deliver a traditional Christmas dinner to those without one. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, they've begun buying food and preparing bags to deliver wherever there's a need.
The Soup Kitchen

Located in La Higuera, Pastor Pablo and his wife also cook and deliver meals to the elderly in the village. At Christmas, they cook a traditional Christmas dinner and deliver it for the holiday. Jake assesses the needs of this ministry and reports back to Hope for Hispaniola with needs we can meet.
Overseeing Construction of Hope for Hispaniola's New Mission Center

As work begins on the long-awaited Hope for Hispaniola Mission Center, Jake manages construction of the camp. He serves as the organization's primary ambassador and spokesperson in the Dominican Republic for gaining permits, buying the property, and so on. Once it is built, Jake will continue to oversee the Mission Center's operations.
The Children's Center
In order to best provide for this school, Jake evaluates and reports back to Hope for Hispaniola about its progress and needs. He also teaches weekly English classes.
Sharing the Gospel

This mission will always be the number one priority of both the Vincik family and Hope for Hispaniola as a whole. None of these other things matter if the Gospel is not spread. In all that they do, the Vincik family offers hope by sharing the redemptive story of Christ's love for his creation and image-bearers.

HFH MEDICAL & MISSION CENTER

After much prayer and planning, God has blessed us with a beautiful
5.3 acres of property to build a Mission Center and permanent Medical
Clinic in the Dominican Republic. Ground broke in November 2020, and a
a team went in January 2021 to aide with the construction. We hope to
have the camp ready for groups by January 2023.

The Hope for Hispaniola Mission Center will serve as a base of operations for our short term teams. Not only will the facilities solidify Hope for Hispaniola's standing, but they also will become an outreach ministry themselves. Local churches will have the opportunity to use the Mission Center as a retreat space for their congregation, providing them with valuable, uninterrupted time to grow together.

The Medical Clinic built on Hope for Hispaniola's property is funded and run by the Hartman Initiative. As a private medical facility, this clinic will offer more accessible high quality medical care to the local community. It will employ a full-time doctor and other staff members, as well as being a training opportunity for recipients of the Hartman Initiative scholarship. You can learn more about the Hartman Initiative and their vision by visiting our partner's page.

Please be sure to include "The Mission Center" in the notes section of your donation.
